TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF SMOKERS PLACES ACCORDING TO LAW (smoking law 03/2003):
1) The rooms reserved to smokers (which Article 51, paragraph I, letter b, of law 16 January 2003, n. 3), must be realized in order to result adequately separated from other neighbouring environments, where smoking is not allowed.
To this end, smoker areas must respect the following structural characteristics:
a) they must be delimitated by walls at full height on the four sides;
b) they must be provided with entrance with automatic closing door, usually in closing position;
c) they must be provided with adequate signals, according to law;
d) not representing an obliged area of passing for non-smokers.
2) Smokers areas must be provided with suitable devices of forced ventilation, in order to guarantee an air capacity of external supplementary exchange or put for transfer from others bordering environments where smoking is not allowed. The supplementary air of exchange must be appropriately filtrated. The supplementary and minimum air capacity to assure is equal to 30 litres/second for each person that can be a guest in the places in accordance with the current law, on the base of the crowding index equal to 0,7 persons/mq. At the entrance of the rooms is indicated the maximum number of persons that can be admitted, according to the capacity of the system.
3) Smokers areas must be maintained in depression not less than 5 Pa. (Pascal)
4) Air deriving from smoking places is not recyclable but it must be expulsed outside by suitable systems and functional openings, according to the current law about emissions in external atmosphere subject, and by communal rules of hygiene and construction.
5) In the areas where smoking is not allowed some apposite signs must be collocated, adequately visible which point out this ban with the written “NO SMOKING”, with indications of relative prescription of law etc...
6) The reserved areas for smokers must be labelled by relevant signs, with a lighted indication containing the written “SMOKERS AREAS”.
7) The signs of point 7 and 6 are however integrated by others lighted signs with the diction “FORBIDDEN TO SMOKE FOR SYSTEM OUT OF ORDER”.
